Stitchy Gifts

I got this kit with my Christmas vouchers from my sister and her family. It's so pretty I can't wait to start stitching it.

This one I got with my birthday money, again from my lovely sister and her family, I've made a start and I'm really enjoying stitching it. Santa, Christmas and stitching, a perfect combination!

My wonderful, thoughtful son and his girlfriend bought me this for Christmas it will go perfectly with the beach huts one I finished recently.

Now to find the time to make dolls!

Christmas at Good Dolly Miss Molly HQ

This is my latest completed project, a Bucilla kit which was a birthday present from my lovely son Ryan. Of course it will stay up all year round, far too pretty to go in the loft!

Just like buses ........

I don't post for ages then two in one day!!!

This has been a WIP for ages - I love it but it's hard going stitching on dark fabric, so today I completed the back stitch and stars. Ready to be framed in the New Year.

These stars are tiny little star shaped sequins secured with tiny beads.

Close up detail of the sparkly thread in her wings and skirt.

Scarlett is completed

I finally finished my beautiful Scarlett, I will frame her after Christmas then display her on the wall.

I added beads in the flowers - I would like to say that I did it for depth and texture but truthfully I still cannot do French knots!

Little glittery beads on her dress.

In memory of Scarlett 13th August 2015

A moment in our arms but a lifetime in our hearts.

Scarlett Days Sixteen & Seventeen

This was yesterday's update, still quite a lot to do but I'm not losing my place as much!

I didn't do any today :-( We did a project about Halloween, the history and traditions. This inevitably included a long craft session to make a Halloween mobile  - this is the loveliness of home education!

This was the previous day's progress.

Scarlett Day Fifteen

I added some lovely deep olive green today, hopefully these bits will help me work out where I am when I do all the flowers!
No stitching yesterday as I didn't feel well but managed quite a bit today.

Scarlett Day Fourteen

Hair finally finished!! I ran out of thread (probably because of my chart following challenges) so I had to improvise. Bodice of her dress is also complete, started on the flower so she isn't just looking at her hands any more but tired now and off to bed.

Scarlett Day Thirteen

Lots of pics tonight, this one is with the flash on.

I've done loads on the hair today but in all honesty most of it is wrong! I'm sure I have a type of dyslexia because I struggle with numbers and symbols. I get confused with the chart because the symbols are printed in black, red and blue and I much prefer black and white.

I constantly lose my place on the chart, find it and then can't remember where I am supposed to stitch it. I knew I had made a mistake because things didn't line up but no matter how long and hard I looked I couldn't work out where I had gone wrong so in frustration I had to stitch wherever I thought the colours should go.

I shall console myself with the thought that no matter how many people stitch this design, my one will be truly unique!

This is the same pic but without the flash.

I took this photo earlier today before I had made much progress on her hair, I noticed the way the sun was coming in through the window, dappled by the trees and she looked so pretty in the natural light.

This is a closer look at her Angel wings, the colours together look almost irridescent.

Scarlett Day Eleven

Took Mrs Moo to the doctors today, she has an ear infection. We watched a lot of SpongeBob, did loads of colouring in together and I did some more stitching.

Scarlett Day Ten

Lots more done today, I still have a poorly girl - one who insists on playing outside all day then coming in to collapse because she wasn't really up to playing out after all :-(
I had a lovely - and much overdue - catch up call with my sister and lots of time for stitching!

Scarlett Day Nine

Another busy couple of days with no stitching plus I have a poorly girl but managed to do a bit today.

Scarlett Day Eight

A little bit more of her arm today but lots of my favourite mauve colour!

Scarlett Day Seven

Not so much done today, Molly and I went to watch my oldest three go climbing. It was good fun but they are so competitive, they have all asked me who the best climber was, my answer to each of them? "You are my darling". I won't get away with it of course but it's shut them up for today!
Anyway back to Scarlett, I did some more on her arm and hands, I love the detail that's appearing.

Scarlett Day Five

A productive day, I feel I made quite a lot of progress but thanks to my inability to count I spent a lot of my precious stitching time wondering where on earth I was 😀

Scarlett Day Four

I have had a couple of busy days and didn't have chance to pick up my stitching but today I have got quite a bit done.

Memories

Haven't we all got special baby clothes bagged up in our airing cupboards and lofts? All those lovely things our babies wore, we know we should probably pass them on to someone else but just looking through them stirs up memories.

The first outfit, that gorgeous romper suit grandma bought ..........

Well time to get them out and make something fabulous, a real personal family heirloom.

I made this double sided quilted blanket for a lovely mama who had bags of old baby clothes aka bags of baby memories.

It started like this

Then became like this

(Choosing all the best bits)

Then cutting them all into squares

A fair bit of this ouch scissors left surprisingly painful blisters.

But encouraged me to get a new best friend

Lots of sewing later and voila

A warm snugly blanket with a story to tell in each square.

Feel better about hoarding your little ones little outfits, one day you may make something with them - or you can go to www.gooddollymissmolly.com and find out how I can make one for you.

Dream Cottages

What do the following have in common?
Dolls, Bears, Hares, Cushions, Cottages, Christmas and the Sea?????

In addition to dolls, bears and hares (and the occasional penguin), here at Good Dolly Miss Molly we also love cottages.

This is an enormous (where on earth will I keep it?) fabric cottage. In theory it is a pin cushion with pockets on either side for scissors, tape measure etc.

Each side has applique details which have been hand embroidered.

There are lots of additional bits if detail and I really enjoyed making it.

I will make a Christmas cottage next time, It's never too early to make Christmas things.

I have also made some cross stitch cushions with a cottage theme (and often a sea theme because I love the sea too)

Until next time lots of love from Good Dolly Miss Molly (busy dreaming of making dolls, bears, hares and cushions at Christmas in a cottage by the sea - sigh).
